A Church's History

The Goodlow EFC's Journey

1962—1964

Beginnings

Located east of Fort St John, BC, the Evangelical Free Church of Goodlow is a small rural church that has been a critical part of the community's history. The church began with a need for local services as soon as settlers arrived. Families like the Littles hosted Sunday School in their homes until a basement was started in September 1962.

On February 9th, 1964, the first service was held in the new building. Our first pastor, John and Sarah Mushaluk, arrived after a difficult journey through the Pine Pass and lived in a portion of the church basement after previously living in granaries.

Growth and Dedication

A significant era of growth began in 1979 with pastor Tim and Mariette Klassen. By 1981, the church took pledges to expand the building, eventually completing a new sanctuary in February 1983. In a dedication service that September, the congregation committed the house to the worship of God and service of their fellow man.

1995—Today

Pressing On

The church has faced challenges over the years but despite these events, the church has persisted. Following long-term ministries by Dan Fletcher and John Marshall, the congregation continues to seek new ways to build community and show the love of Jesus through fellowship and hospitality.
